We want you to be satisfied with your purchase from Tokyo Temp Research LLC. If you are not completely satisfied with the Tokyo Thermal Analysis Guide PDF, we will provide a full refund, no questions asked, within 30 days of your purchase date. Beyond 30 days, we will still consider refund requests on a case-by-case basis. Our goal is fairness, not profit maximization.

This refund policy applies to the following product:

Tokyo Thermal Analysis Guide PDF — A 45-page digital reference document containing our annual thermal lag findings, surface material analysis, ward comparison tables, and methodology notes. Current price: $14.00 USD. Delivered as a PDF download via email link.

This policy does not apply to free content on our website, which is provided without cost and without warranty. It also does not apply to consulting services, which are governed by separate contracts.

Refund Process

To request a refund, send an email to research@tokyo-temp.com with the subject line "Refund Request" and include the following information:

Your full name, the email address used for purchase, the date of purchase, and the reason for your refund request (optional, but helpful for our improvement).

We process refunds within 5 business days of receiving your request. The refund will be issued to the original payment method. For credit card purchases, the refund typically appears on your statement within 5–10 business days after processing, depending on your card issuer's policies. For PayPal purchases, the refund appears in your PayPal account within 3–5 business days.

If you purchased through a third-party platform (such as Gumroad or Amazon, if applicable in the future), you must request the refund through that platform according to their policies. We cannot process refunds for purchases made through third parties.

30-Day Full Refund Period

For purchases made directly through our website, we offer a 30-day full refund period. If you request a refund within 30 days of purchase, we will refund 100% of the purchase price. No questions asked. No restocking fees. No processing charges. We may ask why you're requesting a refund, but your answer is optional and will not affect your eligibility.

Refunds Beyond 30 Days

We understand that circumstances vary. If you discover that the PDF does not meet your needs after the 30-day window has closed, please contact us anyway. We will consider refund requests beyond 30 days on a case-by-case basis. Factors we consider include the time since purchase, whether you have downloaded the file, and the reason for the request. We aim to be reasonable and will grant refunds beyond 30 days in most cases where a genuine issue exists.

Duplicate Purchases

If you accidentally purchase the same product twice, we will automatically refund the duplicate purchase in full upon notification. Please email us with both order confirmation numbers.

Technical Issues

If you experience technical difficulties downloading or opening the PDF file, please contact us before requesting a refund. We will work with you to resolve the issue. In most cases, we can provide an alternative download link or email the file directly. If we cannot resolve the technical issue, we will issue a full refund regardless of the 30-day window.

Chargebacks

We prefer that customers contact us directly for refunds rather than initiating chargebacks with their credit card company or bank. Chargebacks incur fees for us and can complicate the resolution process. If you initiate a chargeback without first contacting us, we reserve the right to contest the chargeback and provide evidence of your purchase and our refund policy to the payment processor. However, if you contact us first, we will almost always resolve the issue to your satisfaction without the need for a chargeback.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Refund requests will be evaluated according to the policy in effect at the time of purchase, not the time of the refund request.

EU Consumer Rights

If you are a consumer residing in the European Union, you have certain statutory rights under EU consumer protection law, including the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU). For digital content that you have not yet downloaded or streamed, you generally have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the date of purchase. However, once you begin downloading or streaming digital content, you lose this right of withdrawal if you have expressly consented to the immediate delivery and acknowledged that you lose your withdrawal right.

Our purchase process includes explicit consent to immediate delivery and acknowledgment that the withdrawal right is lost upon download. However, our voluntary 30-day refund policy provides you with greater protection than the statutory minimum. You may request a refund under our 30-day policy regardless of whether you have downloaded the PDF.

UK Consumer Rights

If you are a consumer residing in the United Kingdom, you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Similar to EU consumers, you generally have a 14-day cooling-off period for digital content that has not been downloaded. Our 30-day refund policy exceeds this statutory minimum and applies regardless of download status.

Japanese Consumer Rights

If you are a consumer residing in Japan, the Act on Specified Commercial Transactions (特定商取引に関する法律) and the Consumer Contract Act (消費者契約法) provide certain protections for mail-order and online purchases. Our refund policy is consistent with these requirements and, in most respects, more generous than the statutory minimum.

Fraud Prevention

We reserve the right to refuse refund requests that appear fraudulent or abusive. Examples include: multiple refund requests from the same email address or IP address within a short period; refund requests for purchases made with stolen payment credentials; refund requests accompanied by threats or harassment; and patterns of purchase-and-refund behavior that suggest an attempt to obtain our product without payment. These situations are rare, and we evaluate each case individually before making a determination.

Gift Purchases

If you received the Tokyo Thermal Analysis Guide PDF as a gift, the original purchaser must request the refund. We cannot process refund requests from gift recipients unless the original purchaser authorizes the refund in writing. If you received a gift and are unsatisfied with the product, please ask the gift-giver to contact us for a refund.

Currency and Exchange Rates

All prices on our website are listed in United States Dollars (USD). If you are purchasing from outside the United States, your payment processor or card issuer may apply currency conversion at their own exchange rate. Refunds are processed in USD, and the amount you receive in your local currency may differ slightly from the amount you paid due to exchange rate fluctuations between the purchase date and the refund date. We have no control over exchange rates and cannot compensate for currency conversion differences.

Subscription and Recurring Payments

The Tokyo Thermal Analysis Guide PDF is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. We do not store your payment information or enroll you in recurring billing. Each year's edition (if published) requires a separate purchase. You will never be charged automatically for a product you did not explicitly purchase.

Force Majeure

In the event that our ability to process refunds is temporarily impaired due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control — including but not limited to natural disasters, war, terrorism, labor disputes, failures of telecommunications infrastructure, or acts of government — we will process your refund as soon as practicable after the impairment is resolved. We will communicate with affected customers via email to the address provided at purchase.

Dispute Resolution

We prefer to resolve refund disputes through direct communication. If you are dissatisfied with our refund decision, please contact Kenji Mori directly at research@tokyo-temp.com with a detailed explanation of your situation. If we cannot reach a mutually satisfactory resolution, disputes will be governed by the dispute resolution provisions in our Terms of Use, including the governing law and jurisdiction clauses specified therein.
